In this role you will provide strategic communications support to NASA Program Management by supporting program office communications activities for use by internal and external stakeholders.
This is a hybrid position in Houston, TX. The position will call for an estimate of 3 days of in-office work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Coordinate strategic communications needs and requirements with the NASA external relations office and Public Affairs Teams
- Develop communications strategies and plans, ensuring objective representation of program content and selected provider content
- Assist in management of communications products on internal and external sites
- Engage commercial providers or potential providers and serve as a Liaison
- Support acquisition activities and events
- Serve as the primary representative of program content integration to NASA’s Commercial LEO Development Program Office
- Assist internal Aerospace Human Exploration and Spaceflight Division internal and external product development
- Perform other duties for the customer as required
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in a technical or communications discipline.
- Experience working in a technical discipline in lieu of a technical degree
- Excellent presentation and communications skills, including development of and briefing of decision packages and complex information in a succinct and polished manner.
- Knowledge of human space flight content and how to communicate the material in an engaging manner
- Experience working across diverse teams and many different engineering disciplines
- Strong project management skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Independent and self-motivated; proactive ability to learn on the job and serve as the primary interface to the customer
- Ability to work within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA and Aerospace Corporation organizations, projects and programs
- Ability to identify and communicate concerns to leadership in a diplomatic manner
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- 3+ years’ experience with NASA or on NASA commercial systems
- Public Affairs or Communications skillset in a technical discipline
- Understanding of specific NASA Human Spaceflight topics
