Scope of Responsibility: The Human Resources Assistant reports to the Human Resources Manager and is responsible for assisting with Firm administrative operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Essential duties are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer. Regular and predictable attendance is one of the essential functions.

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date HR files, records, and documentation; including transitioning of paper files to digital HRIS.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, Firm procedure, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Assists with administration of Firm benefit plans; including monthly billing reconciliations, assisting employees with self-service enrollment tasks in HRIS, periodic correspondence of disability/leave paperwork, and periodic audit of enrollment data to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Provides clerical support to the HR department.
  • Assists with new hire onboarding process in HRIS and orientation scheduling.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings/trainings, employee recognition events, and seasonal parties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to express oneself with professionalism and courtesy.

· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

· Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.

· Ability to establish effective working relationships within a team environment.

Education/Experience:

· Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.

· Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional office environment; law firm preferred.

· Experience in the Human Resources field preferred, not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $26.00 per hour
