Position Summary: The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, policy implementation, leave and benefit administration.
Position Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting and approving invoices for payment
- Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database
- Coaches, counsels and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions
- Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary
- Acts as an employee relations specialist
- Conducts manager orientation and annual manager training
- Conducts HR new hire and annual training
- Other HR related duties as needed
Knowledge/Experience/Skills
- A bachelor's degree in an HR related field and one to two years of HR experience preferred.
- Proven experience as an HR coordinator or relevant human resources/administrative position
- Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
- Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
- Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems (ex. Ultimate Software)
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle data with confidentiality
- Good organizational and time management skills
