POSITION SUMMARY
The HR Specialist works with Store Management, HR Business Partners and the Leave Administrator to coordinate and administer various employee programs and activities including hiring, onboarding, leaves of absence, performance management, training and employee relations.

HR SPECIALIST PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administers various tasks relating to HR processes and programs, including pre-employment processes, hiring, onboarding, employee status, pay/position changes, benefits and leave activities. Provides support and guidance to store management relating to these tasks.
- Reviews and responds to incoming inquiries and refers more complex issues to HR Business Partners for resolution.
- Responds to state agencies/vendors requesting required information including: unemployment claims, LTD, SDI, etc.
- Advises managers and employees of leave rights, responsibilities and overall leave process including: eligibility of benefits, protected leave status, pay, health and COBRA benefits and return to work steps. Documents communications as necessary. Prepares reporting and data for management and HR Business Partners to assess individual Leave claims.
- Audits Leave claims to ensure records are accurate and up-to-date leave information and collects and analyzes Leave data focusing on current trends.
- Assists and coordinates HR related training
HR SPECIALIST MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- 1-4 years of HR Specialist experience, employee relations preferred
- SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM CP certification preferred
