Job description
The Housekeeping Supervisor manages housekeeping staff as well as the day to day operations of housekeeping, laundry, and breakfast services of the hotel in a manner which will maintain high standards of service and hospitality consistent with the policies, procedures, standards, and best practices set forth by the company and management, as well as the brand.
Essential Responsibilities: This position is primarily responsible for the overall cleanliness of the hotel including guest rooms and public areas. Other areas of hotel operations would include: breakfast, guest service, housekeeping operations, profit management, asset management, and safety and security. Assists other departments when needed and performs other duties as assigned.
· Maintains company and franchise cleanliness standards for both guest rooms and public areas and inspects them to ensure that standards are met.
· Trains Housekeeping Team in all aspects of Housekeeping and Laundry via the brand standards.
· Holds housekeeping and laundry staff accountable for maintaining the brand standards training and takes the appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
· Coordinates work schedules and room assignments with minimum disruption to guests.
· Inspects rooms daily (cleaned, occupied, and unoccupied).
· Maintains key control and lost-and-found and ensures team is trained to follow proper procedures.
· Performs guest room housekeeping duties, laundry functions, and cleans public areas as needed. Also assists with breakfast when needed.
· Reports out of order rooms to Maintenance and assists with follow up to ensure that issues are corrected.
· Personally demonstrates a commitment to guest service by responding to guest needs and concerns; being committed to making every guest satisfied.
· Ensures Housekeeping standards and service contribute to the delivery of consistent guest service.
· Strives to improve service scores consistently.
· Conducts Housekeeping team meetings informing and involving employees with service scores.
· Maintains a positive, cooperative work environment between the Housekeeping team and other departments.
· Administers personnel policies fairly and consistently.
· Assists with maintaining inventory of supplies and ensures team follows proper inventory and cost control procedures.
· Is responsible for ordering housekeeping, laundry, and guest supplies.
· Assists with maintaining physical product standards by scheduling ongoing cleaning projects.
· Understands and performs basic safety, security, and emergency procedures of the hotel.
· Recognizes, corrects, and reports potential safety hazards and/or security concerns.
Skills and experience required: Guest Service oriented, interpersonal and communication skills, planning and organizational skills, leadership skills, team player, ability to train and supervise employees, knowledge of proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals, ability to multi task, previous housekeeping/ supervisory experience, high school education or equivalent.
