General Definition and Scope of Job

The Environmental Services Aide function is to perform a variety of general cleaning tasks to achieve a high standard of cleanliness. The Aide also assists and is an integral part of the facilities infection control program. This position interacts directly with patients, staff and visitors on a daily basis.

JOB STATUS:

• Full Time, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd shifts available, 80 hours per pay period - Benefit Eligible
• Part Time, 2nd Shift, 32 hours per pay period
• Casual - As Needed

What are the Minimum Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements?

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• On-the-job training experience preferred.
• Able to comprehend written and oral communication.
• Must have good infection control understanding.
• Healthcare housekeeping experience preferred.

What are the Critical Demands of the Job?

• Must be able to stand 90% of shift.
• Must be able to operate a vacuum cleaner with repetitive push pull motion.
• Must be able to comprehend written and oral instructions and safety procedures.
• Must be able to document work performed and follow guidelines for such documentation.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, bend down and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of 30 pounds.
• Job entails considerable reaching, stooping, lifting, bending, kneeling and crouching.
• Must be able to operate equipment such as Taski carpet extractors.
• Ability to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.

What are the Working Conditions?

• Repetitive push and pull motion throughout shift.
• Repetitive bending and lifting 30 pounds.
• Majority of work is conducted indoors, may have occasion to work outdoors.
• Working with cleaning chemicals.
