JOB SUMMARY: The Epworth House Parent will provide a nurturing home experience consistent with the mission of Epworth. By working on our beautiful 32-acre campus near downtown Columbia with residents in a 7 on 7 off schedule, the house parent will provide consistency and care for the children in the cottage. They will provide primary parenting and supervision for residents based upon the development of authentic, caring relationships. Learn and apply the C.A.R.E. practice model, Epworth policies and procedures, and state regulations to childcare, home life, activities, and all interactions with clients.

The House Parent will cooperate with all Epworth staff to enhance the mission and ministry as a whole. This would include role modeling, appropriate participation in campus activities, worship services, devotions, mission opportunities, and Sunday School teaching as needed. The House Parent will complete daily documentation on each client. Provide transportation via mini-bus or car to school, activities, client employment, and appointments. Ensure home is clean and in good working order, submitting work orders for needed repairs (includes grounds around building).

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in human service field, or Two (2) years Associate Degree in Human Service field preferred. Two (2) years experience in working with children or adolescents and a high school diploma required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Has a belief system and engages in faith practices that are compatible with those of the United Methodist Church.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to use sound discretion and judgment in developing and implementing decisions. Significant life experience in working with children and adolescents. Ability to be outdoors in cold/or heat for recreational purposes with the children. Ability to stand, twist, bend, climb stairs, lift, and stoop in the normal course of care of the children/youth. Must be able to pass standard background checking, including drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.
