The Hotel Housekeeping Supervisor supports institutional housekeeping program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of the hotel by performing the following duties personally or through housekeeping room attendants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
- Supports and maintains standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff.
- Ensure training programs are followed, training employees on proper grooming and uniform standards and safe, proper and efficient usage of equipment and chemicals.
- Inspects and evaluates physical condition of establishment to ensure all areas of responsibility are clean and maintained to standard daily.
- Ensure a work order is completed for all painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space.
- Assists in completing inventory of supplies and ensures controls are in place to monitor usage.
- Assists in coordinating the ordering if all supplies necessary for the department, utilizing the purchase order system for non-day-to-day disposable supplies. Selects and purchases new furnishings.
- Regularly inspects equipment to ensure equipment is working properly.
- Suggests new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.
- Participates in daily shift meetings and monthly staff meetings to keep staff informed of resort activity and company news.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position.
- Directly supervises 14-20 employees in the Hotel Housekeeping Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of Internet software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software
- Must hold a valid State of Vermont Driver's License and be eligible for enrollment as a driver on Jay Peak Resort's Commercial Automobile policy
