Job Title: Hotel Chief Engineer
Job Type: Full Time – 40 hours per week, overtime may be required.
Pay: $23.00 to $25.00 per hour based on experience.

Job Overview:
- The Fairfield Inn & Suites Livonia, MI, US is now hiring a Chief Engineer to join our great team! This is a full-time leadership position. The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring the property is repaired and maintained to meet all brand standards and guest expectations of a clean, safe, and well-kept facility.
- Assist the General Manager in the functioning of the hotel. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance work to ensure the hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained. Provide excellent guest service in an efficient, courteous professional manner; following standards of friendly hospitality while adhering to guidelines and procedures.
Your day-to-day:
- Walking property grounds regularly to oversee functioning, repair, safety, and condition of the guestrooms and all hotel facilities.
- Interviewing and selecting new maintenance staff.
- Oversee the maintenance staff, including discipline and retraining as necessary.
- Diagnose malfunctions and defects in mechanical and similar equipment and to determine corrective measures and perform or delegate repairs when applicable.
- Maintain facility using consistent preventative maintenance practices.
- Check and repair plumbing systems, electrical systems, building interior and exterior. Coordinate with service vendors as needed.
- Respond to work orders in a timely manner.
- Train all maintenance staff and other designated associates in the responsibilities and safety.
- Work with associates regarding their role in the upkeep, safety and security of the property.
- Maintain all paperwork in accordance with brand and management company standards.
- Help property management determine what tools, materials and equipment are necessary to maintain the property and perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure maintenance department and applicable staff have sufficient tools to do their jobs daily.
- All other duties as assigned and within the realm of physical capabilities.
Skill Requirements:
- Diagnose malfunctions and defects in mechanical and similar equipment and to determine adequate corrective measures.
- Perform general minor repairs to in house plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, kitchen equipment and HVAC systems.
- Ability to assign and supervise the work of a few less experienced workers.
- Communicate effectively with staff and upper management.
- Practice Safety Standards at all times.
- Must be able to work as a team member.
- Comply to all brand and management company standards.
- Work within the budgetary guidelines.
- Remain service centric.
- Communicate professionally with guests and co-workers.
- Computer knowledge is helpful.
- Assist with guest issues, be professional and maintain a hospitable caring attitude.
- Maintain guest privacy.
Physical requirements:
Must be able to perform major life activities: standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating. For this position specifically:
- Must be able to push or pull 100 pounds and lift and/or carry 60 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, climb ladders, crawl, kneel and be low to the ground when necessary, sometimes for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to speak and read English, the ability to communicate in another language may be helpful.
- Must be able to see and hear.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to work with chemicals, paints, repair products, and other necessary materials commonly used by hotels in building and facilities maintenance.
