The mission of Antelope Valley Meals on Wheels is to promote the quality of life for our seniors.

The Antelope Valley Meals on Wheels Home Delivered Meals Driver/Packer will assist with packaging meals daily in accordance with the Nutritional Guidelines provided by the County of Los Angeles. He/She will use a temperature-controlled truck to deliver meals daily to homebound seniors throughout the Antelope Valley Community. This requires loading and unloading daily meals into the truck in a safe and sanitary way using correct temperature control. Report any unusual conditions of the food and/or problems observed of the meal recipient during delivery of meals to Supervisor. He/She will informally observe the status of the meal recipients who are receiving home delivered meals to ensure their health, safety, and security. He/She is a designated mandated reporter and is required to report any elderly abuse to the Supervisor immediately.

The Home Delivered Meals Driver/Packer will be able to handle emergency situations effectively. Maintain the delivery truck by cleaning and sanitizing in accordance with the County of Los Angeles Guidelines. Maintain accurate daily maintenance and mileage records for the vehicle.

The Home Delivered Meals Driver/Packer will be standing, walking, sitting, listening, speaking, carrying, driving, pulling, pushing, lifting up to 25lbs., and cleaning regularly. Often loads are awkward in size and may be hot or cold enough to require safety gloves for handling.

To perform effectively in this position, the Driver/Packer is required to have:

-two years of delivery driving experience

-knowledge of safe driving practices and vehicle maintenance procedures

-the physical ability to lift heavy and awkward loads, clean, load/unload vehicles and be generally active

-map reading skills, a good sense of direction, and technical knowledge of GPS navigation

-ability to exhibit positive, supportive behavior toward clients, staff, and volunteers

-a current California driver’s license and must be able to meet driving requirements

-complies with all necessary health and sanitation requirements and guidelines

-participates in staff meetings to improve practices and maintain general knowledge of the Agency’s needs.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
