Primary Purpose of the Position:
The primary purpose of the Historic Interpreter will be to provide visitor service functions at Historic Bath and keep the facilities in a clean and presentable manner. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to research, maintain records, and prepare routine reports as required. Applicant must be able to multitask and work effectively as a team member in a multi-agency environment.
Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- giving tours
- greeting visitors
- living history interpretation
- operating the sales desk
- answering phone inquiries
- maintaining and interpreting artifacts
- assisting group tours
- assist with planning and implementing special events
- maintaining the Visitor Center, as well as other historic structures

To receive credit for your work history and credentials, you must provide the information on the application form. In order to qualify for this position, you must meet ALL the following KSA's listed below:
Must have knowledge of state and/or national history.- Must be willing to do costume interpretation.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must have the ability to speak effectively with a wide variety of people and age groups while adapting historical tours to age, interest level, and special interests.
- Must be able to work Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM with some travel, holiday, weekend, and evening work required, when needed.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Experience with plants - gardening, landscaping, or other plant-related knowledge or experience.
- Experience with social media content creation, expansion, and engagement.
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in giving museum tours; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
