The Levy Group of Companies is seeking Heavy Equipment Operators and Mobile Crane Operators to work at our Levy Brandenburg Mill Services location in Brandenburg, KY.

The Heavy Equipment Operators perform all functions as it pertains to operating heavy off-road mobile equipment.

The Mobile Crane Operator will operate a mobile crane for the purpose of loading and offloading construction materials and components.

Responsibilities
The Heavy Equipment Operator

• Conducts pre-operation and post-operation vehicle inspections
• Communicates with mill personnel
• Documents and communicates repair requests to mechanics
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment
• Maintains records and logs
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

SkillsThe ideal candidate will have:

• Experience operating dump truck/haul truck, end loader, excavator, dozer, and other specialized mobile equipment
• Ability sit, stand, walk for an extended period of time, and lift up to 50lbs
• Basic Mechanical aptitude.
• Good communication and radio skills
• Ability to follow proper safety procedures and site rules
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Ability to work in an environment with noise and temperature variations
• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities
The Mobile Crane Operator will:

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections along with routine greasing, oiling, and fueling
• Use crane and forklift to load and unload trucks and barges
• Assess the type of load and uses appropriate rigging techniques to off-load safely and without damage
• Comply with OSHA 1910 regulations
• Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of workers and materials.
• Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chainfalls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment.
• Tilt, dip and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.
• Select gears, such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.
• Monitor changes in equipment performance and reports potential malfunctions to maintenance personnel
• Use two-way radio to communicate with mill personnel and other site personnel
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicle
• Maintain records and logs
• Meet customer service requirements
• Comply with all safety regulations and policies
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Skills
The ideal candidate will have:

• Minimum of five years of crane operations experience in an industrial environment
• Ability to operate a crane and other heavy, mobile equipment
• Knowledge of rigging procedures and regulations
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, for extended periods, and lift to 50lbs
• Ability to operate a vehicle
• Ability to climb on, into, and out of equipment
• Ability to work outdoors, at elevated heights, tolerate multiple terrain and environmental variations
• Ability to communicate via radio
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures
• Ability to read and write
• High School diploma or equivalent
