Technica LLC seeks to recruit for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator/Railroad Brake and Switch Operator on a Government contract with a place of performance at Fort Bliss, TX

Position Responsibilities:

The Heavy Equipment Operator-Brakeman operates equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life; equipment may include, but is not limited to, Fork-lift 10k or higher, RTCH(Kalmar) 50k, Crane 80k, K-Loader 25k, Lantis 33k, Stair Truck, Belt Loader.

• Must be able to couple and decouple rail cars, connect, and disconnect brake lines, count rail cars, and give a countdown to locomotive engineers.
• Monitor and operate rail switches.
• Monitor Soldiers and contractors loading and unloading rail cars, tie-down and inspect tiedowns for equipment being secured to the rail car.
• Monitor and conduct all rail operation in a safe manner
• Conduct classes for Soldiers and contractors on rail operations, work in an outdoor environment, comply with all company, state, and federal policies and regulations.
• Inspects couplings, hand brakes, air hoses, and other train parts.
• Supports assigned missions operating Heavy Equipment, Air, Rail, and Line Haul support movements.
• Performs daily Preventive Maintenance Checks (PMCS) on equipment prior to operation and at the completion of mission task assignment or at end of a work shift.
• Be able to support additional Unit Movement Branch tasks as directed.
• Inspect, clean, and perform operator level maintenance on equipment in accordance with standards
• Closely interact with the customer for movement of materials and equipment
• Perform daily safety checks to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition
• Follow related safety regulations, contract requirements, company policies, and operating procedures
• Ensure equipment is properly utilized, maintained, and stored
• Complete necessary documentation, reporting, and limited office duties Perform other duties as assigned
• Knowledge of equipment safety, maintenance, and storage
• Maintain effective working relationships with other people
• Additional knowledge/skills may be required by the assignment
• Performs other duties and additional duties as assigned.
• Must be prepared to observe and practice all safety, security, and health requirements as per Technica policies and standards.
• Required to observe all safety and health requirements for office environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively during a flexibly scheduled workweek.
• Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust, high, and low temperatures.
• Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to various weather conditions.
• Minimum of 1-year work experience operating heavy equipment required.
• Must be able to obtain license following on-the-job training, operating each type of equipment required to operate one of several types of heavy equipment such as 10K or 12K Forklift, 50 Ton Rough Terrain Container Handler, 40 Ton Crane, Halverson Loader, and Lantis Loader.
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Available to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently in order to understand equipment load charts and coordinate movement to a standard of project
• US Citizen
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 18 years of age
• Must be able to pass pre-employment and background checks related to the position
• Valid state driver's license
• Must be able to obtain base access

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prefer Heavy Equipment Operator-Brakeman training and certificate from a verifiable military or civilian field.
