Heat Treat Operator

Classification: Hourly

Reports to: Heat Treat Manager

Summary

We are currently seeking a Heat Treat Operator to support manufacturing by ensuring production of products through heat treat processes consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through co-workers. In all actions, supports Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people.

Essential Functions/Duties

• Perform heat treating functions according to customer specifications
• Operate Atmosphere furnaces, quench tanks, and all other equipment and machinery in the work center according to work orders and run orders, per supervisor instructions
• Relay all necessary information regarding ongoing heat treat operations to other operators when changing shifts or leaving the area
• Report any problems or potential problems to supervisor
• Flexibility and willingness to work in other areas as needed
• Willingness to learn, use critical thinking, and be ambitious
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Flexible with start and end times to meet customer demands
• Keep equipment and workstation clean
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools
• Follow all safety rules and specifications
• Operate a lift truck to move parts
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Physical/Cognitive Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, walking long distances (over uneven surfaces) to/within our production facility is required. Position also requires the ability to lift boxes, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Cognitive abilities required include deductive reasoning, information ordering, oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, written comprehension, and written expression.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a rotating twelve-hour shift, seven days a week.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or high school equivalency is preferred. Candidates who do not have a high school diploma or high school equivalency will be required to take a pre-employment assessment to be considered for this role.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in heat treating operations preferred
