Salary: $45,000/year, benefit eligible, exempt, 260 + 9 holidays + 3 personal days. This is a grant funded, one year only position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively establish, evaluate, and manage services and supports offered through the Heart Program Youth and Young Adult Drop-In Center.
  • Provide intensive case management services, including but not limited to:
  • Assist with housing search and application process,
  • Assist with educational enrollment and alternative educational options,
  • Assist with obtaining employment,
  • Assist with benefits applications,
  • Develop & facilitate life skills training i.e., financial literacy.
  • Responsible for guiding, advising, and coordinating with the district regarding compliance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act., addressing specific challenges faced by youth and young adults living in transition, working towards removing barriers.
  • Support the identification, school enrollment, delivery of mandated services to facilitate attendance and access to appropriate education and opportunities for academic success of students facing housing instability.
  • Serve as the school liaison to community agencies, including Collaborative Housing Solutions (CoC), to establish and provide coordinated services to students and families.
  • Provide follow-up with students, young adults, and families to support progress toward goals of case management plan.
  • Facilitate and/or provide social services-related professional development sessions for both district staff and community members to promote awareness of services and supports for youth and young adults living in transition.
  • Maintain records, files, reports, evaluations and contracts, update information according to policy and regulations.
  • Prepare and edit correspondence and forms including announcements, communication, contracts, and website.
  • Prepare reports, charts, and statistics in support of operations and studies.
  • Attend building, district and/or other meetings as required or directed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and standards of education and community resources.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to assess progress, identify needs, and problem-solve collaboratively and effectively.
  • Skill in record keeping and records retention laws.
  • Highly proficient in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and other software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
  • Demonstrated organizational, customer service, initiative, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
  • Skill in arithmetic, grammar, spelling, record keeping, and compiling materials for reports.
  • Skill in critical thinking, problem analysis, program management, and resolution.
  • Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, parents, and the public.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
  • Ability to work alternative scheduled hours during peak work times, including some evenings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology or a related field AND a minimum of one year of experience providing services for school aged children; OR,
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience; AND,
  • Possession of a valid and appropriate Montana Driver's License and a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College level class work in a relevant field of study.
  • Experience in a public organization or an educational environment.
  • Training in trauma informed and restorative best practices

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
