REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess or qualify for vocational education secondary license through the Ohio Department of Education.
Minimum five years recent work experience in health care.
Minimum two years work experience in long term or chronic care facility required.
Must be a registered nurse in the State of Ohio.
Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred.
Nurse aide training Train the Trainer certification preferred.
Strong technology skills.

INSTRUCTIONAL CONTENT EXPECTATIONS:

- Fundamental skills in effective and safe patient care that can be applied across a person’s lifespan.
- Psychomotor nursing skills needed to assist individuals in meeting basic human needs.
- Techniques to collect patient’s vital signs including temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure.
- Knowledge to establish and implement treatment plans while providing primary nursing care.
- Diagnostic techniques to develop patient health assessments, with an emphasis on the synthesis of information gathered through health history, observation, and the detection of deviations and variations from normal physical characteristics.
- Legal and ethical principles needed to function within the scope of practice.
- Practical application of a wide range of clinical duties including the following topics: hematology, urinalysis, hemostatic processes, body chemistry, microbiology, and blood typing.
- Correlation and documentation of clinical findings and quality management in a clinical laboratory.
CAREER TECHNICAL INSTRUCTOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows prescribed curriculum using approved textbooks, workbooks and instructional materials.
- Designs meaningful and sequential instruction and relevant learning activities to meet instructional goals.
- Prepares and uses daily lesson plans and submits to administration in prescribed manner.
- Uses support services and resources to enhance the teaching and learning process.
- Creates an environment for success and fosters a love of learning while creating an environment where creativity and risk taking are valued and encouraged.
- Maintains positive classroom management by setting and communicating high, consistent expectations for learning and achievement.
- Assists students in obtaining knowledge and developing personal skills, which will prepare them to be successful in the world of work and in life.
- Seeks employment opportunities for students in accordance with their abilities and goals.
- Promotes and maintains a safe environment as defined by district policies and procedures.
- Assures appropriate supervision of students at all times.
