WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Under the direction of the AWARE Early Head Start Director, the EHS Health and Disabilities Manager oversees the implementation of all health, nutrition, and disability services across all service areas including child care partnerships. The EHS Health and Disabilities Manager ensures delivery of early intervention, nutrition and health services as required by federal and state law, Head Start Performance Standards and state and local child care licensing regulations. The EHS Health and Disabilities Manager applies professional expertise in Part C, nutrition, and health services to all aspects of service delivery while working in coordination with all other service areas to provide quality services to children and their families, training and compliance. The EHS Health and Disabilities Manager will collect data, maintain documentation, and support compliance in all facets of the Head Start Performance Standards and childcare licensing.

The EHS Health and Disabilities Manager position is full-time and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including insurance, 401(k), tuition advancement, paid vacation, personal and sick leave, and annual raises. This position requires frequent traveling to all AWARE Early Head Start locations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • KNOWLEDGE and demonstrated understanding of infant and early childhood development, including the differences in health, nutrition and disabilities services and concepts across varying cultures, and the impact on other early childhood learning domains. Knowledge of IDEA, Part C and Part B services and requirements. Knowledge and understanding of EPSDT requirements. Knowledge of Early Head Start is desirable.
  • SKILLS are required to maintain strong, collaborative relationships with EHS staff and families. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include ability to partner as a member of a diverse team, lead and facilitate training and/or parent and staff education groups, conduct, communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with diverse groups, use data results to guide work with families.
  • ABILITY to articulate training practices to staff members and family members, read, interpret, apply, and explain data, regulations, written service area plans, and policies and procedures, analyze situations accurately and adopt effective course of action; model appropriate instruction and techniques to educational staff; understand and carry out oral and written directions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; maintain records and prepare reports; exhibit exceptional customer service skills; manage time and work efficiently with minimum supervision

Requirements:


Education/Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in Public Health, Human Services, Social Work, Early Childhood or related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience managing health services for infants, toddler and families and providing staff supervision.
  • Experience providing adult training opportunities, and experience with Head Start Early Head Start preferred.
  • Current and former Head Start parents are given preference for hire into positions for which they are qualified
