POSITION SUMMARY:
To coordinate, plan, develop, and implement all activities related to a particular school site.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan, supervise, implement and direct childcare program at school site.
- Supervise and direct assistant teachers assigned to school sites. This includes preparation and presentation of semi-annual and annual job performance reviews.
- Promotes feelings of mutual respect, acceptance, and appreciation among youth and adults.
- Create a safe environment that helps all youth feel welcome and respected. Insure quality care
- Employ positive behavior guidance strategies that provide youth with increased self awareness and self-control Interacts with youth in a positive, warm and nurturing manner
- Understands and maintains personal boundaries with youth (e.g., physical space, time, etc.)
- Develops and maintains open, friendly, cooperative, and respectful relationships with families and other partners
- Encourages an open exchange of ideas and uses effective listening and verbal skills, including positive body language and tone of voice
- Promotes and supports the potential of all youth
- Maintain all state licensing and YMCA standards and requirements including accurate attendance records on both staff and children.
- Prepare nutritious morning and afternoon snacks as directed in monthly snack menus.
- Submit weekly grocery lists.
- Submit attendance weekly, Fire drills & first aid inventory monthly.
- Attend staff development regularly as mandated by the State of Connecticut and YMCA.
- Attend all staff meetings, trainings and conferences.
- Any additional duties or functions as designated by the Director (i.e. Special events)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 20 years of age
- Possess a minimum of 12 credits in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or have obtained a CDA in School Age Childcare.
- Must have a minimum of two years supervised experience working with this school age children.
- Must have the ability and desire to work with children.
- Must meet all State of Connecticut licensing requirements (negative TB test, good health report, First Aid / CPR certification).

Safety is the responsibility of every employee of the association. Each employee is charged with adhering to the YMCA’s Safety and Risk Management program as directed by the management.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
