Position Summary:

Montai Health is seeking a Head of Drug Delivery and Formulation within our platform team focusing on the development of a suite of novel delivery technologies for tuning the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic responses of various payloads including nucleic acid, small molecules, and amino acid-based. Additionally, the candidate will oversee process development, and chemical analytics capabilities within Montai. S/he will bring a strong entrepreneurial orientation, demonstrate strong communication skills, and be comfortable working in and contributing to a very dynamic and cross-functional team environment. The candidate will collaborate closely with teams across the organization including Discovery Biology, Computational Modeling, and Translational Biology. Key Responsibilities:

• Drive the design and implementation of delivery and formulation methods to support drug discovery programs in multiple disease areas and enable advancing clinical development candidates to IND enabling studies
• Develop a team focused on innovative approaches to delivery of natural product, small molecule, payloads
• Oversee and implement internal and external chemical analytics function at Montai.
• Collaborate closely with company leadership and R&D teams to achieve ambitious milestones for technology development and proof of platform
• Provide scientific leadership by coordinating teams across diverse backgrounds
• Oversee and provide scientific direction to multiple direct reports
• Establish and oversee external project and scientific collaborators and contract research organizations
• Maintain scientific and technical expertise through familiarity with scientific literature, attending conferences, and developing relationships with thought leaders
• Build agile capabilities to rapidly demonstrate delivery of small molecules via different routes of administration
• Manage external vendors (CRO) and integrate cycles of drug development using external and internal resources with a sense of urgency, to support moving early exploratory programs to IND-ready.
• Work closely with an entrepreneurial, highly-collaborative, interdisciplinary team and actively contribute to creating, shaping, and executing the scientific vision of the company

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree required.
• A minimum of 10 years industry experience or equivalent in bioengineering, biology, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry or related field
• Minimum of five years of experience developing technology platforms for therapeutic programs
• Small molecule-based delivery with experience developing innovative approaches for novel technologies
• Pharmacological properties of small molecule and lipid delivery modalities therapeutics
• Understanding of the characterization and quantification of small molecule metabolites, lipids, and in vivo PD responses using chemical analytics tools (e.g. Liquid & Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry)
• Experience with developing strategic timelines and executing successfully on corporate goals
• Extensive experience in CRO management
• Prior experience in leading teams and enabling drug formulation and delivery from discovery to clinical trials
• Very strong communication and partnering skills
• Excellent leadership capabilities with demonstrated track record of employee coaching and development
