The mission of the Andrew Jackson Foundation is to preserve The Hermitage, the home of President Andrew Jackson, to create learning opportunities and to inspire citizenship through experiencing the life and unique impact of Jackson.

Position Overview:

This is a part-time, up to 16-26 hours a week, position that supports the various aspects of Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform job function and conduct daily operations.
• Greet visitors entering the Visitors Center, check tickets, and suggest best site experience with time limitations.
• Introduce film and general tour information to all visitors.
• Inform visitors about special exhibits, tours and events.
• Convey historical information to guests and answer questions.
• Monitor security of museum and carriage exhibits.
• Have knowledge and be able to operate all audio and multimedia equipment.
• Distribute, collect, and clean audio and multimedia equipment.
• Consistently apply policies regarding food, drinks, backpacks.
• Interact with Hermitage visitors and staff in a friendly, informative manner.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attend and participate in training activities.
• Assist security with alarm notifications.
• Direct visitors to appropriate office areas.
• Assist visitors in emergency situations.
• Cross train with other staff as requested.
• Look for and report all safety concerns to Security.

Qualifications:

• High School degree; some college preferred.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Ability to interact with all ages, nationalities, and disabilities.
• Demonstrates ability to receive and give feedback.
• Presents a professional demeanor and maintain confidentiality.
• Demonstrates commitment to policy and procedure while balancing necessary flexibility.
• Able to work evenings and weekends, when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Foreign language and/or accessibility services experience highly preferred.
• Ability to preform light physical work; perform repetitive tasks; be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
