Mildred Mitchell Bateman Hospital

This position is responsible for guarding all buildings and grounds of a 110-Bed Psychiatric Hospital from theft, fire, vandalism and illegal entry. Assist direct care staff during the admission process and assumes the responsibility for inventory and securing patient valuables upon admission. Patrols the hospital grounds by vehicle and foot to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Secures the entrance and exits of the hospital to help prevent patient elopement and prevent unknown individuals from entering the grounds of the hospital. Other responsibilities may include transporting staff and patients to local hospitals for care and treatment, delivering lab specimens to local hospitals for processing and making banking deposit to the local bank.

This is a tobacco free facility. Chosen applicants must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test. All employees shall be subject to drug testing for probable cause as set forth in Agency and Bureau policies. Must be able to work holidays and weekends. Mandatory overtime is an essential function of this position. Candidate must successfully pass a background screening.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment.

Special Requirement: Must be bonded by Board of Risk and Insurance Management to carry a firearm. (Not applicable for DHHR psychiatric facilities.)

Pay: $10.27 - $19.00 per hour
