VMI is accepting applications for a full-time Grounds Equipment Operator in the Physical Plant Department.

- Operating trucks, tractors, backhoes, front-end loaders, mowers, snowplows and other equipment related to preventive and corrective maintenance
- Responding to emergencies as needed during and after hours to include snow and ice removal
- Performing manual labor with members of grounds crew in the maintenance of grounds and facilities when there is no need for heavy equipment operation
- Monitoring security of equipment and facilities, reporting unusual conditions to supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
- Working skill in the use of hand tools
- Ability to operate motor vehicles
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor
- Ability to work from heights; preferred
Other Requirements:
JLG Lift and Bucket Truck certificate (required within 6 months from date of employment);
Registered Technician pesticide license (required within 12 months from date of employment)
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- Knowledge of arithmetic, units of measure and equipment maintenance
- Basic computer skills
