Position Summary & Scope

Job Summary:

The Seasonal Golf Course Starter is responsible for assisting the golfers in preparing for their round of golf, assisting clerks, Food preparation/service and golf course management with Community Building operations as needed.

Scope of Responsibility:
This position works under the close supervision of the Golf Course Manager and the Seasonal Golf Clerks. The Seasonal Golf Course Starter has continuous public contact requiring tact, courtesy and good judgment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helps ensure the safety of patrons and fellow staff members.
  • Assists in all aspect of building operations; Answering phones, assisting golfers as needed, food preparation/service, room rental setup/takedown and assisting in general golf programs.
  • Assists on special events, tournaments and room rentals.
  • Performs general cleaning including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping and trash removal.
  • Provides support to youth golf programs as needed or as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Must work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Is able to communicate orally and in writing and understands, follows, and transmits written and oral instructions.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the general public.
  • Ability to work early a.m. hours, weekends, and Holidays.
Tools and Equipment Used:
  • May be directed to use some computer programs.
  • General cleaning equipment as assigned but not limited to broom, vacuum, mop, multi-purpose cleaning agents, water hose and gardening tools.
  • May also operate other equipment as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle and other small powered vehicle carts.

Minimum job requirements are the ability to read, communicate, perform basic math and problem solve customer concerns through strong customer service skills. Meets state requirement to operated power equipment and has a valid driver's licenses.

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
The employee must occasionally (up to 5%-10% of the time) lift and/or move up to 40-50 pounds in the process of cleaning and setting up of community building operations.
