Under the direction of the Enterprise GIS Manager, the GIS Developer will apply their thorough knowledge of the ArcGIS suite of products and their programming skills to assist with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and management of geospatial applications through concept, design, and implementation phases. This includes the development and maintenance of AGOL and internally hosted applications, from simple data collection tools to complex data aggregation and analysis web-based applications. Actively involved with reviewing and testing software components, add-ons and applications.

The GIS Developer will ensure the GIS environment is operating effectively through the control and maintenance of back-end operation tasks and utilizing ArcGIS Monitor. They are responsible for software configuration and troubleshooting.

The GIS Developer serves as a technical resources and support to all GIS initiatives. Keeps up with current and future technologies and advises on how to improve our services and technology. Services as a technical resources to all other GIS staff. Advocates and implements data integrations across the university environment. Supports efforts to improve the use of 3D models and floorplans in the GIS environment along with utilizing imagery and AI to improve our data maintenance processes. Provides oversight of third-party support, development of policies and procedures, and management of data resources. Able to manage small simple to larger, complex projects with minimal oversight. Writes and maintains documentation explaining software function and user guides explaining software utilization. Advises management on software development schedules and costs, project implementation, and system capabilities. Collaborates with other GIS and FITS staff as necessary. Works with a large amount of independence. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or other relevant fields and two years of work-related experience or completion of advanced GIS courses
  • Highly skilled in ArcGIS suite of products (10X), ArcGIS Pro 3x and especially in administering ArcSDE and ArcGIS Enterprise and Portal
  • Experience supporting versioning, replication and sync processes
  • Proficient in Python scripting and ESRI web map APIs
  • Familiarity with ESRI Web AppBuilder and Experience Builder
  • Proficient in developing SQL queries
  • Experience with daily system maintenance including administering SDE connections, software licenses, and website updates
  • Experience integrating GIS with existing non-GIS in-house or 3rd party business systems
  • Ability to learn new programming languages and technologies
  • Proficient in writing technical documentation
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team

DESIRED, NOT REQUIRED:

  • 5+ years’ experience in GIS programming and application development
  • Proficient with Arcade
  • Advanced understanding of web map services, proxy services, and cached credentials.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit and other Autodesk products
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, C#, .NET, SOAP, REST
  • Experience with FME or other data translation tool(s)
  • Experience with ArcGIS Indoors, ArcGIS Urban, and ArcGIS Monitor

Target Salary Range $79,000-$90,000
