Versar, Inc. is seeking a self-motivated Geoplogist, Engineer or Environmental Scientist that resides in the Bucks County, PA locale (or willing to commute) to support an active environmental remediation project in the area. The specifically desired experience will include work with water/wastewater treatment operations to support the periodic collection of groundwater samples for performance monitoring, in-plant samples from process operations, and working with the project managers (PMs) to support other data-intensive field and office efforts and scientific reports related to Plant performance. Other assignments may include field and office work related to the investigation and characterization of contaminated sites across the U.S. Requirements include 2 to 5 years’ experience as well as the ability to travel up to 25% of the time, and current OSHA HAZWOPER certification (or ability to renew immediately).

The candidate must have experience collecting groundwater samples for laboratory analysis.
Primary duties and day-to-day responsibilities include the following, under the direction of senior staff:
- The overarching requirements for this position are to support all onsite and offsite requirements associated with the operations of water treatment facility. We estimate that 25-50% of each work week will be dedicated to the data management, reporting, and other related actions (updates to operational plans, modifying or entering data into the Operations and Maintenance Management System [OMMS], or assisting with onsite work activities as part of a team effort).
- Perform year-round field duties as required. Field duties include but are not limited to groundwater sampling by various methods (low-flow, volumetric, etc.); oversight of drilling and monitoring well installation; lithology examination and logging; monitoring well development; and sampling of other environmental media (e.g., surface water, sediment, soil vapor, indoor/ambient air).
- Develop work planning documents related to site investigations not associated with the Plant with direction from project managers and supervisors.
- Prepare technical reports-of-findings for delivery to clients, perform quality control review, and maintain deliverable quality to meet internal and client requirements.
- Conduct on-site field investigations including directing well installations, collecting soil and groundwater samples, sample management and participating in other site characterization and hazardous waste management activities.
- Coordinate with technology providers and services, products, vendors, subcontractors, lab scale/bench scale testing firms, and other subcontractors, consultants, and teaming partners.
- Perform background research, gather information, and interpret laboratory and field data to support technical activities. Evaluate data reports and draw comparison of results with similar analysis.
- Write scopes of work and develop cost estimates and schedules associated with remediation projects for Opportunities with the EPA, USACE, National Guard Bureau, Navy, and other federal sector customers.
- Use technically oriented software.
Requirements
- B.S in Geology, Engineering, or Environmental Science (others considered)
- 2-5 years of relevant experience, preferably including support for active remediation sites
- Local residency or reasonable commuting distance to the job site
- OSHA HAZWOPER training (40 hrs.) plus other training to be taken upon employment to meet H&S requirements of the Bucks County project
