Genetics Counselor Full Time Hematology Oncology
Job description
Provide professional genetic counseling services in the Familial Cancer Program of the Vermont Cancer Center, a multidisciplinary cancer genetics program at University of Vermont Medical Center. Provide information, counseling and support to individuals and families who are at increased risk for developing cancer due family history or inherited predisposition. Tasks include analyzing pedigrees, obtaining pathology records, assessing risk for specific types of cancer, facilitating genetic testing when appropriate, identifying at-risk relatives, and providing a comprehensive cancer screening and prevention plan. In addition to providing clinical care, this job entails participation in research, teaching and community activities related to cancer genetics.
EDUCATION:
The minimum qualifications are a Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling from a program accredited by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) and being Board Eligible or Board Certified by the ABGC.
EXPERIENCE:
1-3 years previous experience in the area of genetic counseling.
