Raise a Child Raise a Child of The Carolinas (The RACC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization focused on exposing youth to educational opportunities that are underrepresented in their communities, thus inspiring them to reach their full potential. The RACC organization was started in 2018 and provides local children with tutoring and seasonal camps. The RACC also partners with Mecklenburg County Schools to offer after school education solutions to supplement the day learning process.

We love our volunteers and appreciate everything they do. Our success stems from your commitment and dedication!

We are currently looking for volunteers to be a part of our committees or volunteer for special events. We ask for a time commitment around 3-5 hours per month. Volunteers must undergo a background check with Sterling Volunteers. The RACC is a grassroots organization and respectfully ask you help defer the background cost by paying $20 to have it completed.

Below are the current volunteer opportunities that are available:

FUNDRAISING Volunteers:

• Identify fundraising opportunities for volunteers and community partners
• Research and identify grant opportunities for new and continued funding of programs to significantly increase support from government, corporate, foundation and organization sources.
• Identify all requirements of grants to ensure all necessary attachments are submitted.
• Ensure timely process of all tasks including communication and reports related to the grant process, including letters of inquiry/intent, proposals, reports, and stewardship activities.
• Complete and submit grant applications that present a compelling need for financial support.

DIGITAL MARKETING Volunteers:

• Maintain and enhance Raise a Child of the Carolinas website
• Update website to advertise for upcoming events
• Partner with Executive Director and marketing/social media partners to align content and messaging
• Utilize analytics to track site visits and trends

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Volunteers:

• Develop, implement, and execute a comprehensive marketing, branding, communications, and public relations strategy to publicize our organization, programs and goals
• Develop content, articles, collateral, talking points and other communications materials to promote RACC’s mission through multiple channels and platforms
• Build strategic partnerships with agencies, organizations, community leaders and influencers

PROGRAM COMMITTEE Volunteers:

• We need part-time volunteers to help develop fun and innovative educational programs for students’ grades K-8. This is a flexible, remote role and volunteers should expect to work 1-2 hours weekly.
• This is a great role for a current or former teacher OR students or recent grads who are looking for education experience OR anyone who is passionate about helping all children benefit from the value of quality education
• Oversee development of fun and interactive programs centered around one of our core focus areas of S.T.R.E.A.M, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Health & Fitness, and College and Career Readiness.

EVENT PLANNING Volunteers:

• Plan and organize fundraising events
• Find new partnerships and manage existing ones
• Find volunteers to work at events
• Secure venues
• Secure sponsors & vendors
• Works closely with the Finance Committee to manage expenses
• Works closely with Marketing and Media Committee to promote events
• Committee members should anticipate being available an average of 2‐3 hours per month

ACCOUNTING/FINANCE Volunteers:

• Process documentation
• Data entry for payments and contributions
• Support other miscellaneous administrative needs on occasion
• Career interests in Accounting or Business Management
• Organized and capable of following instructions to meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail
• Possess a continuous improvement mindset and willing to recommend process improvements
• Supportive of the RACC’s mission to serve underrepresented communities in Charlotte
