Job Summary
The Swissport Fueling Services, Inc., General Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the fuel facilities. The Manager will ensure that Swissport Fueling and the Fuel Facility Corporation policies and procedures are adhered to by way of performance and in keeping with the specifications of the Maintenance, Operation and Management Agreement. The Fuel Facility Manager will ensure that facilities are operated in compliance with ATA 103, SPCC and FRP regulations, Storm Water Pollution Prevention; Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations; and OSHA regulations; oversee construction projects; update, as required, the SPCC Plan, Storm Water Plan, and Emergency Response Plan; be responsible for employee recruitment, training, and manpower.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare consortium operating budget to include any operational concerns/requirements for approval by the Fuel chairperson and its members.
- Review proper staffing levels to ensure service levels are kept within the parameters of the budget and the needs of the business.
- Review all equipment and personal injury accidents that take place at the fuel facilities and develop corrective action, incorporating company policies.
- Ensure appropriate response to airport infractions and breaches of the company’s operating rules/procedures and take corrective action if required.
- Ensure direct reports are in compliance with all company, customer, industry and Federal agency training and safety requirements including documentation through training records.
- Ensure that both company and consortium financial targets are met.
- Ensure a good working relationship with the various control authorities such as Airport Management and Federal Agencies to include FAA, TSA, Customs, EPA, Immigration, etc.
- Ensure implementation of appropriate training programs, including preventative maintenance and safety, for new hires and recurring training for experienced employees.
- Monitor inventory controls and preventative maintenance programs.
- Monitor Fuel for compliance with fuel inventory controls and environmental compliance.
- Review employee absenteeism and initiate appropriate corrective action in accordance with attendance policy.
- Adhere to the limits of authority as set forth in the Maintenance, Operation and Management Services Agreement and Swissport’s Standard Operating Procedures.
Qualifications and Competencies
- University degree or equivalent, advanced degree in related field or professional certifications are advantageous
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a fuel facility or similar background
- Detailed in depth knowledge regarding fuel, its care and control is required
- Tank farm, pipeline care or maintenance experience strongly desired
- Solid leadership skills
- Effective communication skills
- Strong operational and people management skills
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and T&A systems
- Customer focus and quality awareness
- Ability to deal with conflicts
- Ability to meet and abide by deadlines
- Technical knowledge of equipment and systems
- Working knowledge of State and Federal Hazardous Waste Regulations
- Available for crisis management response and respond to station as required
