The General Manager position is responsible and accountable for dealership operations, customer relations and for profitability on behalf of the dealer. The General Manager provides leadership that positions the company at the forefront of automotive sales and service in the target market. The General Manager oversees company operations to insure efficiency, quality of service, and cost-effective management of resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure successful dealership operations by overseeing all departments including sales, service, finance & insurance and business office.
  • Develop and execute effective dealership management through solid business practices.
  • Ensure that departmental goals, quotas and objectives are met on a daily, monthly, and annual basis, by personally getting involved.
  • Ensure that the dealership reaches its target profitability on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Direct the activities of departmental managers by developing short- and long-term goals and incentives.
  • Enforce sales and gross objectives, taking corrective actions where needed.
  • Coordinate regular meetings (weekly) with managers in each department to ensure profitability and efficiency.
  • Focus on employee motivation and retention practices.
  • Effectively communicate with the controller/office manager to review departmental forecasts and ensure consistency with annual projections.
  • Responsible for effective operations and creating process improvements where needed.
  • Maintain positive dealer relations with third parties including lending institutions, manufacturers and the public.
  • Investigate and solve customer relations issues.
  • Develop employees with knowledge transfer at all levels to increase engagement and commitment to the company.
  • Maintain professional personal appearance.
  • Complete required training assigned through the company training portal.
  • Adhere to consistent and reliable work schedule.
  • Support and manage both of our Mandan, ND dealership locations, Kramer Chevrolet & Subaru
  • Demonstrate ethical business practices and integrity in all interactions to uphold the Foundation Automotive brand.
  • Effectively perform duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
  • Five years of demonstrated general management or multi-unit experience with a major retailer managing a large store.
  • Hands-on management style with a passion for driving sales.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions for difficult problems.
  • Strong focus on achieving results.
  • Passion for providing exceptional customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop associates at all levels and be part of a team.
  • College degree preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to sell a minimum quota according to dealership standards.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening
  • Authorization to work in the USA.
