Position Title: General Manager – Construction Services
Job Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with extended hours possible
Reporting Relationship: CEO

Primary Accountabilities:
The General Construction Manager – Construction Services, is responsible for directing all construction related services and business operations of the organization. They establish controls, processes and operating procedures necessary for the day-today operations of construction services. The General Manager is also responsible for staffing and other operational duties, including compliance with applicable state, federal and local regulations.
Major Duties:
- Creating annual regional strategic business plan for review and approval by senior leadership
- Presenting quarterly reviews of relevant metrics and progress toward business plan goals to senior leadership
- Conducting business in the best interests of organization and its employees
- Direct contract management, business development, and project team processes
- Conducting business development activities to maintain and improve the organization’s market position in the region
- Providing guidance on the selection of team members and selection of subcontractor(s)
- Explores documentation in order to gain a deep understanding of the project requirements.
- Conducting reviews of project estimates and budgets for accuracy
- Ensuring the selection and retention of individuals competent in technical abilities, cost control measures, administrative and customer service skills
- Providing direction to construction program and project managers regarding client, job, or site issues
- Informing senior leadership of major project issues, significant budget shortages/overages in a timely manner
- Conducting weekly/monthly "Work in Progress Reports" on projects of concern for senior leadership
- Conducting monthly "Work in Progress Report" for active projects for CFO and CEO
- Attending contract negotiations as required, and participating in resolving all contract disputes
- Communicating relevant information regarding companywide/corporate activities and initiatives to regional staff
- Informing and collaborating with human resources in hiring, coaching, counseling and termination employees
- Traveling as needed to active projects to assess status, create and enhance client trust
- Presenting to the Executive Staff and the organization’s Board of Directors, as requested
- Prepares relevant and reliable forecasts.
- Conducts complex risk analysis activities.
- Builds and maintains long-term relationships with the key vendors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or other related field and/or 6+ years' experience in a similar management-level position
- Previous Federal contractor experience preferred but not required
- Previous experience in a construction management or professional services organization
- In-depth knowledge of project management.
- Good time-management skills and ability to multi-task.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Critical-thinker and problem-solver.
- Ability to put together a professional presentation.
- Ability to work well on a team.
- Very detail oriented.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and requirements.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit; drive for extended periods.
- Routinely stands; walks; uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaches with hands and arms; climbs or balances and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
- Regularly lifts and/or moves up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Ability to work outside/outdoor environment, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, as well as wet and/or humid weather conditions.
- Frequently stressful atmosphere with long or irregular hours.
