Fundraising Marketing Manager – Development – Orlando

This position is based in Orlando, FL supporting Second Harvest Food Bank’s digital department projects.

About Second Harvest

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a member of Feeding America – the largest charitable domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States. SHFBCF secures and distributes food and grocery products to approximately 550 local nonprofit feeding programs throughout Central Florida. Last year, with the help of food and financial donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank has distributed enough food for 92 million meals to partner programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, senior centers, day care centers and Kids Cafes. In addition, Second Harvest’s 16-week culinary training program teaches foodservice-based technical, life and employability skills to economically hard-pressed adults. Department Overview

The Development Team at Second Harvest is charged with ensuring that the overall financial sustainability of the ever-growing food bank mission is adequately supported by marketing communications (community awareness) and active philanthropic outreach, cultivation, and stewardship. The development team is on the front lines of telling the compelling story of hunger relief and providing meaningful opportunities for the community to engage in that work through gifts of money, volunteer time, non-perishable food, and/or advocacy of public policy. The team is a vital link to the community relationships and resources that allow the food bank’s programs and services to flourish and to grow.

Work Hours

Monday - Friday: 8:30AM – 4:30PM; Early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed.

Job Summary

The Fundraising Marketing Manager works closely with the Development team to support the overall donor strategy and collaborates with the Mission Storyteller and Communications Manager to tell our story through our direct marketing channels. The position oversees Second Harvest Food Bank’s digital department projects.

Job Responsibilities

Fundraising

  • Lead annual email fundraising and donor engagement campaigns, including the development of messaging, strategy, creative, and audience segmentation.
  • Oversee design and use of peer-to-peer fundraising platforms, including but not limited to virtual food drive, DIY fundraisers and new campaigns.
  • Work with Digital Fundraising Specialist to develop communication plans for peer-to-peer campaign to recruit, register, retain, recognize and equip individual participants, fundraisers and donors.
  • Work with vendor to launch telemarketing campaign.
  • Oversees the creation of websites at Second Harvest.
  • Manage, engage and grow Second Harvest’s email database.
  • Work with direct marketing vendor to create compelling & cost-effective mail packages, and with Development Data Manager to appropriately segment donor lists.
  • Work with direct marketing vendor on digital campaign strategies for google adwords and digital ads.
  • Work with direct marketing vendor to launch fundraising projects on schedule.
  • Work with other vendors for digital fundraising projects.
  • Work with Advocacy Director on an annual Advocacy digital plan.
  • Analyze donor data and email campaign performance.
  • Work with Digital Fundraising Specialist to solve Blackbaud Luminate issues or help answer questions.
  • Manage invoicing for direct marketing needs.
  • Conceptualize and implement innovative new ways to fundraise.

Writing and Content Creation

  • Develop messaging for annual fundraising campaigns through direct marketing channels.
  • Gather content to create monthly email newsletters and impact emails.
  • Write verbiage for website and other digital media.

Customer Service

  • Manage customer service process with Digital Fundraising Specialist to build good relationships with donors through timely and polite responses to donor inquiries.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent Marketing experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in fundraising.
  • Ability to write and create content for direct marketing channels
  • Ability to adapt to new software and systems
  • Knowledge of digital and direct marketing tools, procedures and strategies.
  • Knowledge of and experience with email tools such as MailChimp, Blackbaud Luminate Online
  • Knowledge of CRM technology, reporting software and tools
  • Working knowledge of fundraising best practices, benchmarks and trends
  • Knowledge of MS office, HTML and basic CSS.
  • Ability o effectively communicate both written and verbally
  • Ability to manage, coach and train others.
  • Results-oriented problem solver.

Desired Skills and/or Certifications

  • Working knowledge of google tracking and reporting toolsets – google analytics, UTM, Google tag manager, google AdWords.
  • Working knowledge of Direct Marketing practices.
  • Knowledge of and experience with digital building toolsets like Blackbaud Luminate Online, Greater Giving, Wordpress and e commerce tools like Shopify.
