These positions are full-time custodian positions, working 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year, and day shift hours in the summer. We have one opening at Rock River Intermediate School and one opening at the Junior/Senior High School. POSITION SUMMARY This position consists of routine work to maintain the cleanliness and safety of an assigned facility and grounds. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or skills associated with this position, but is intended to accurately reflect the essential job elements. Responsibilities include the following: Perform general custodian duties (sweep, dust, mop, scrub, seal, buff, vacuum, fix, replace, repair, etc.) Perform ground maintenance (mow, water, sweep, week, snow/ice removal, etc.) Use safety precautions when operating of cleaning/maintenance equipment Use safety precautions when using cleaning supplies/equipment Perform building inspections to ensure building security Prepare school facility for special occasions (graduations. Conferences, etc.) Move furniture and equipment Requires extensive walking, stooping, pushing, carrying, climbing, bending, and lifting Climb ladders, stairs, and stand for prolonged periods of time Work outdoors under adverse weather conditions Participate in training sessions and acquire skills in the operation of cleaning and maintenance procedures Perform other duties as assigned PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. High school diploma/GED or equivalent custodial work experience (preferred) Valid driver’s license Ability to lift 80 pounds Working knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally Organizational skills Ability to problem-solve Capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment Ability to take and follow directions and also work independently Capability and willingness to be a team player and develop interpersonal relationships while maintaining a professional demeanor Punctual
