Do you want to be the welcoming presence for a non-profit focused on bettering the lives of Rondo community members? The Hallie Q. Brown Community Center is hiring for their Front Reception position. The Front Reception role is responsible for providing hospitality and front desk support with the general operations, front office, community members and other guests. This position plays an important role in providing a welcoming environment to all visitors and supporting the day-to-day operations of Hallie Q. Brown.

SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week during business hours, with at least a 30 minute lunch break coordinated and scheduled with colleagues.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Guest and Customer Relations

  • Provide a welcoming environment to visitors, clients and coworkers
  • Respond to callers and voice mail messages from the main phone line
  • Promptly gather voicemails and direct to the proper personnel

General Office Support

  • Process mail
  • Coordinate room reservations
  • Provide event support as requested (name tags, room set up, invitations, RSVPs, etc.)
  • Create and put up signage directing visitors to destination
  • Ensure clean and orderly front office and break room, organizes supplies
  • Reception duties

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate / Bachelor’s in a relevant field, or demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and life experience.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in Office or Administrative experience.
  • Interest in the human services nonprofit sector required; experience working in a nonprofit setting preferred, Rondo area knowledge desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A commitment to the mission of Hallie Q. Brown Community Center.
  • Knowledge and experience working with culturally and racially diverse populations in many different socio-economic conditions.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Prior experience working in an office or customer service role.
  • A strong commitment to customer service.
  • Reliability is essential.
  • Willingness to learn a variety of tasks; possesses excellent communication skills, a thorough understanding of nonprofit practices, a serious work ethic, and a desire to work in a team-orientated environment.
  • Possesses the ability to work independently, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Understands the importance of customer service and being professional.
  • Competency in MS Office: Word, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers and the public. Must use good judgment in recognizing the scope of authority.
  • Ability to travel to sites within 15-mile radius of the office.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Valid MN Drivers’ License, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet Hallie Q. Brown’s driving record requirements.
  • Must have completed COVID-19 vaccination and/or will have completed the vaccine before starting; Hallie Q. Brown can provide vaccination resources if needed.
