Job Description:

EVIDENT is hiring a dynamic FPGA Designer to join the Embedded Electronics Engineering team responsible for the development of our world class Portable NDT instruments. This person will be responsible for all aspects of FPGA design development and validation tasks for new products and sustaining updates on mature products. This position will play a critical role in delivering high quality and timely Portable NDT (Non-Destructive Test) products to the market through daily engagement with the HW, FW/SW, and Production engineers. As a Senior FPGA Designer for the R&D organization, you will be responsible for the design development and verification utilizing leading-edge FPGA MPSoC platforms (like Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+). Successful candidates will play a critical role within the Electronics Engineering group as part of the larger Design Engineering Team at Evident. Additionally, you will contribute directly to the development of various instrument electronics designs.

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with project team members to identify hardware requirements and develop corresponding design strategies or architecture using the best approach based on performance, cost, and resources.
  • Contribute to detailed hardware specifications based on requirements and implement electronics designs in accordance with those defined requirements and/or specifications.
  • Document ideas, designs, specifications, and instructions.
  • Operate as subject matter expert with respect to FPGA design and verification and applicable development processes.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of FPGA development or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of hardware test and laboratory instrumentation and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design controls and documentation
  • Ability to actively participate on working teams. Strong collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills appropriate for public and professional settings

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with test-bench development using System Verilog and simulation tools such as Modelsim
  • Experience with Data Acquisition based real time embedded systems
  • Experience with high-speed logic design utilizing ADC(s) and DAC(s)
  • Experience with MathWorks MATLAB and Simulink tools for modelling and simulating digital signal processing systems
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or TCL
