The historical interpreter will execute their responsibilities with a positive attitude, neat appearance, and a friendly and pleasant demeanor toward all visitors at the state historic site. The successful applicant will:

• Welcome and orientate visitors, lead hands-on activities, and conduct guided tours.
• Interpret site history enjoyably and accurately by making use of research and training.
• Assess and provide for visitors' special needs, such as appropriate services for the elderly, handicapped, and foreign visitors.
• Provide excellent customer service
• Maintain a clean working environment.
• Assist with store operations including operating a cash register, displaying merchandise, and keeping track of inventory.
• Familiarize visitors with the mission of the State Historical Society and other historical sites.

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to learn site history.
• Must be able to speak in public.
• Ability to communicate with groups and individuals of diverse ages, interests, and perspectives.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
