The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (https://med.uth.edu/psychiatry/) of the McGovern Medical School (https://med.uth.edu/) at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (https://www.uth.edu/) is seeking qualified forensic psychologists to join our excellent faculty team at UTHealth-Harris County Psychiatric Center (https://hcpc.uth.edu/) and the newly opened Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center (BSC). The position also provides opportunities for exceptional teaching and clinical supervision for psychology predoctoral interns, postdoctoral fellows, practicum students, and psychiatry residents. Position Key Accountabilities:


  • Proficient knowledge and application of the Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychology and the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.

  • Conduct competency to stand trial examinations for patients committed to competency restoration within the UTHealth-HCPC/BSC inpatient and/or outpatient competency restoration programs.

  • Provide recommendations and/or consultation to interdisciplinary treatment teams for individualized competency restoration and treatment planning in accordance with relevant ethical standards.

  • Proficient assessment administration and interpretation related to malingering, personality, serious mental illness, and dual diagnoses.

  • Supervise and teach psychology trainees including interns, practicum students, fellows, and psychiatry residents.

  • Provide staff training and milieu consultation as needed.

  • Participate in clinical, research and educational missions of the department.

  • Provide cross-coverage as needed as part of the inpatient adult psychology consult service.


Qualifications:


  • PsyD or PhD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program.

  • Licensed or eligibility to be licensed as a psychologist consistent with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.

  • Qualifications as experts as indicated in Article 46B.022 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, and provide documentation of relevant forensic training.

  • Ability to provide two redacted forensic report samples if invited to interview.
