Job description
Community Services Agency is looking for a Food Services Worker to prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks to children in the Head Start program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspects and stores incoming food and supplies and manages inventory;
- Maintains kitchen area in accordance with state and local food safety; storage and sanitation regulations;
- Posts list of food safety regulations on wall of kitchen for reference;
- Maintains a nutrition program that meets the nutritional needs and feeding requirements of each child, including those with special dietary needs and children with disabilities;
- Assists the Health and Safety Manager and the Nutrition Consultant with designing and conducting training for families and program staff to increase their knowledge of food preparation and the nutrition value of foods;
- Prepares and serves food at proper temperatures and inappropriate serving dishes that are properly covered or packaged at the designated time(s);
- Ensures that all eating and kitchen utensils are clean;
- Provides support to Head Start staff and parents in solving program problems.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Ability to:
- Work independently and maintain effective relationships with others;
- Solve problems and respond appropriately to various situations;
- Maintain confidentiality about children, families, and staff;
- Obtain a valid Food Handler’s Card;
- Attend training as required.
Basic Knowledge of:
- USDA meal requirements, sanitation and safety procedures;
- Meal preparation, inventory, and set-up.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and/or 12 months of food service experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk; push, pull, carry and lift to 50 pounds; use of fingers including substantial movements of the wrists and hands.
