Fresh Food Factor is a Volunteers of America social enterprise that provides fresh and healthy meals to school children, as well as delivers contract packaging and manufacturing solutions to local businesses in our region.
Job Summary
The Food Service Director guides our Fresh Food Factor social enterprise in providing incredible outcomes for the individuals we serve and financial success that supports the social programs of Volunteers of America. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Finance & Administration, this individual will focus on the management of day-to-day operations, the quality of production, and the strategic growth and advancement of the business into new lines of service.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day Operational Oversight: Working from an 8,500 square foot commercial kitchen in the heart of New Orleans, the Food Service Director is a hands-on leader who ensures food production and packaging is efficient, effective and of the highest quality.
- Business Development and Growth: The Food Service Director will spend time developing new opportunities for expanded lines of business, as well as fostering the existing relationships with schools, businesses, and government partners.
- Data-Driven and Financially Proficient: A high-level, strategic leader who understands the value of data driven decision-making and brings financial expertise required to oversee the running of a multi-million dollar enterprise.
Qualifications:
- Preference for degree in culinary arts, food service management, nutrition, dietetics, hospitality, business or other related field.
- This position requires 5 or more years of work experience in the hospitality industry, in increasingly responsible foodservice supervisor positions.
- A minimum of 3 years food service senior-level management experience is required.
- Experience with fresh & healthy food preparation and operations.
- Hands-on large scale, food manufacturing operation experience.
- Strong entrepreneurial background with successful business start-up experience
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in the requirements of Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification.
- USDA, Office of Public Health, and FDA regulations and licensing.
- Knowledge of child nutrition standards and requirements.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all forms.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively, both in person and in writing, with critical stakeholders, constituents, government agencies, and collaborating entities.
- Self-starter who demonstrates the highest standards of integrity.
