SUMMARY: Nutrition Works is a sponsoring organization for family child care homes and child care centers who participate on the Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in Idaho. The goals of CACFP are to help child care providers feed nutritious meals to children in their care and to help children develop healthy eating habits for life.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Communicate with CACFP participating child care providers in an ethical, respectful, and caring manner;
  • Follow program federal, state, and local regulations;
  • Maintain highest standards of ethics;
  • Adhere to Jannus, Inc. employee handbook policies;
  • Maintain current knowledge of CACFP regulations;
  • Train providers on CACFP policies and procedures;
  • Train providers on nutritional program practices;
  • Perform mandatory onsite visits to providers;
  • Handle on-site technical assistance related to program requirements and software questions;
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of any corrective actions initiated with providers;
  • Report any child care abuse, child neglect, and non-compliance issues;
  • Communicate provider issues with program director;
  • Daily use of database to track provider information, prepare for provider visits, and input reviews;
  • Complete monthly reports and monitoring reviews to program director;
  • Plan and maintain all monitoring schedules, activity, and expense records;
  • Travel to in-state provider facilities by car and travel to one or two in- or out-of-state trainings each year;
  • Participate in team and 1:1 meetings.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WITH DIRECTOR’S PRIOR APPROVAL:

  • Network with other child care professionals: IdahoSTARS, Health & Welfare, Central District Health department, etc., as appropriate;
  • Table and represent Nutrition Works at various community events (this will require some Saturdays and possible evenings);
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize time, prioritize responsibilities, and accurately complete multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment;
  • Ability to interpret state and federal laws and regulations that relate to CACFP;
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing;
  • Experience in resolving conflict and de-escalating situations that may arise;
  • Demonstrated sound decision making experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in working with a wide variety of individuals;
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with site owners, directors, and staff;
  • The preferred candidate is someone who is passionate about child nutrition; has experience with the CACFP, child care, nutrition, social work, or a related field;
  • Strong interest in learning about and staying current with program requirements is a must;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and computer literacy regarding e-mail and internet use;
  • Current driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and must provide proof of state required liability insurance;
  • Maintain a good driving record;
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history background check;
  • Must reside in one of the following counties: Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka, and Twin Falls counties.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, food service, social work, or related field preferred. Extensive applicable experience would be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

None.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Independent travel by car required to perform all monitoring visits for assigned child care facilities. Travel will be within Health Regions 4, 5, 6, 7. East to American Falls, West to Mountain home, South to Utah border, and North to Ketchum and Salmon. Occasional overnight trips may be required to complete monitoring visits in Salmon, etc. A minimum of one team meeting is held in Boise each year as well as one or two in- and out-of-state training conferences.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to tolerate heat and cold to travel to child care facilities. Sitting, standing, walking, driving, repeated hand and wrist motions (for computer use) are required. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
