Job Description
The Flower Supervisor is an essential role in the structure and efficiency of a state-of-the-art cannabis production facility. A Flower Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing a team of leads and associates throughout day-to-day activities related to the cultivation schedule; specifically, around the flowering growth phase/area. This position includes overseeing a team in each of the three Flowering Bays. A successful supervisor will communicate closely and clearly with their team to ensure all daily flowering duties are understood and executed within the allotted hours of the daily schedule. A Supervisor's expert knowledge of all Temescal’s flowering plants cultivation standard operating procedures will be conveyed through the training of all new cultivation associates. All flower leads and associates will report to the Flower Supervisor. This position reports directly to the Cultivation Manager.

Responsibilities*

  • Assist the Cultivation Manager in directing all flowering bay staff, weekly scheduling, reporting and training within the flowering sector of cultivation
  • Ensure that all flowering functions and timelines are completed in accordance to the cultivation schedule
  • Ensure that all flowering activities adhere to state regulations and guidance
  • Oversee daily room maintenance checks to ensure all environmental conditions fall within provided parameters of the flowering bays, report daily
  • Oversee daily plant health checks to keep record of plant health through its flowering cycle, report daily
  • Oversee and ensure the completion of daily logs/checks performed by the flowering associates and leads
  • Identify/spot and report: pests, poor plant health, nutrient deficiencies and toxicities, transplant shock, equipment failures and safety hazards of all rooms
  • Collaborate with the IPM/Irrigation Supervisor to discuss issues and new approaches when any of the above arise
  • Fluent in plant training methods including sea of green methodology using a high planting density
  • Analyze each cultivar to determine ideal finishing times, training techniques, and nutrient requirements
  • Collaborate with the Post-Harvest Manager to ensure proper dry down cycles prior to harvesting
  • Ensure trellis is properly applied according to the weekly cultivation schedule and all plants are trained to fill in as an even and full canopy
  • Responsible for ensuring all required pruning is completed on time and according to the cultivation schedule
  • Implement crop steering techniques to assist plants in finishing within the required growth window
  • To the best of your ability, answer all staff questions and concerns before deferring to the manager
  • Communicate all insubordination of staff in relation to company policies or state regulations to management
  • Collaborate with the Cultivation Manager on environmental setpoints in the Damatex Control system to make sure climate is suitable for employees to work
  • Oversee the weekly transfer of material from the Veg Bays to the Flower Bays
  • Oversee and perform plant work in accordance with the needs of the production schedule
  • Ensure all defoliation is completed prior to harvest in all flowering bays
  • Maintain a clean working environment across all common workspaces and flowering bays
  • Train and ensure that all cultivation associates are following and executing the company’s standard operating procedures
  • Develop and present strategies to improve upon pre-existing operating procedures
  • Monitoring/reporting the conditions of flowering bays and scheduled tasks
  • Maintenance of all facets of the flowering department
  • Directing the sanitation efforts of all cultivation tools, areas and rooms used during the flowering growth phase
  • Calibration of equipment for data collection and automation
  • Tracking and managing the inventory of flowering plant material in all bays to ensure complete compliance

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of commercial greenhouse/horticultural/agricultural experience
  • Associate degree or above in horticulture or related field a plus
  • In depth knowledge of the cannabis plant in commercial growing environment
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience training and supervising others
  • Ability to work with uniformity
  • Effective data entry skills
  • Skilled in general computer operating systems and applications, including G Suite and METRC
  • Fluent in seed-to-sale regulatory cannabis system (METRC)
  • Experience using automated environmental control system of the facility
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills, attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to collaborate with the production teams effectively
  • Thrives in a team environment

  • Fluent in all Temescal Wellness cultivation protocols, policies and Procedures
  • Awareness and understanding of Harvest Schedule
  • Proficient at all tasks in relation to cultivation
  • Have a trained cultivator’s eye. Ex. When procedures aren’t being executed properly, call attention
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production environment
  • Ability to visually examine work environment to identify potential safety/OSHA violations
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
  • Ability to work in high temperatures and humidities found all cultivation rooms
  • Ability to bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds
  • Ability to to stand on hard surface for extended periods
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, cutting and fine manipulation

Work Hours:
The Flower Supervisor role is a full-time position. Employees will be expected to arrive for their shift starting at 7:00 am and fulfill their duties by the end of the workday at 5:30 pm. Cultivation is a 7 day-a-week operation and each employee’s schedule will be determined by the Cultivation Manager.
