As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will lead the verification of our flight software to ensure the correctness and performance of our spaceflight systems. You’ll lead the development of test cases and procedures and oversee the qualification of our software. This work is critical to ensure our missions safety and success.
The Advanced Development Program (ADP) is Blue Origin’s team dedicated to developing mission architectures, creating, and fostering new technologies into our existing offerings, building our next generation of leaders, and commercializing new platforms, such as our planned Lunar Lander program, Blue Moon (Link:

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of the flight software verification environment
  • Design and write tests to assure code meets safety critical standards and functions.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and iteratively design and develop applications and systems to meet their needs.
  • Support with the HIL integration of flight avionics hardware and software
  • Be actively involved in tool development including infrastructure to support build, debugging, and deployment.
Qualifications:
  • Passion for getting people into space and back again safely.
  • B.S. degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or related field.
  • 8+ years of software development and testing experience including multi-threaded programming.
  • Demonstrable systems software development and verification experience at the Platform, OS, and Application software boundaries.
  • Strong software development and debugging skills, particularly in C/C++/Python.
  • Passion for and expertise at software test.
  • Experience leading teams through rigorous verification activities per DO-178C or comparable standards.
  • Experience interacting collaboratively with software development teams while maintaining objectivity and independence
  • Hands-on experience with Testing Frameworks and Continuous Integration pipelines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • 10+ years industry experience on large engineering systems
  • Experience developing and testing real-time embedded systems, gaming systems, control systems, device drivers, or mobile devices.
  • Experience with safety-critical software development.
  • Experience with hardware debug probes, static analysis and code coverage tools, and integration of such tools into automated verification processes.
  • Familiarity with sensors and actuators including GPS, accelerometers, rate gyros, pressure or temperature sensors.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux, ThreadX, Docker, GNU toolchain, Python, C#, MATLAB/Simulink, real-time operating systems, serial communications, IP networking, or developing secure systems.
  • Experience developing software for hardware in the loop testing
  • Strong debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary, and familiarity with software verification approaches
  • Experience with mission operations and ground data systems
  • Familiarity with hardware emulation systems (e.g. QEMU, Simics, Renode)
  • Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CI/CD - e.g. Gitlab, Jenkins)
  • Experience with tools such as DOORs Next Generation (DNG), Gitlab, SVN, Docker, Jenkins, Docker Compose, Packer, Kubernetes, Ansible
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
Estimated salary wage (Colorado only): $150K- $250K
