GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for assisting the supervising director in the administration of all group exercise classes, fitness attendants and other fitness activities in general. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
1. Coordination of all group exercise schedules and class arrangements.
2. Coordination of all fitness attendants and schedules.
3. Coordination of all Healthy Lifestyle Coaches for the Activate Coastal Georgia program.
4. Reporting attendance counts, group fitness participation, fitness center needs.
5. Supervision of fitness center maintenance including cleaning, repair and preventive maintenance of all fitness center/group exercise equipment.
6. Coordination of Activate Coastal Georgia participants ensuring participation, satisfaction and program delivery to active participants.
7. Development and implementation of fitness challenges – minimum of 3 major challenges per year.
8. Development and implementation of new group exercise and fitness program ideas.
9. Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
10. Assist in the annual Priceless Gifts fundraising program for the YMCA.
11. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers and program participants.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, and evaluation of this department.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

1. Sound working knowledge of accepted exercise and fitness principles.
2. Ability to develop and implement fitness and group exercise programs.
3. Ability to foster positive staff, peers and program participants.
4. Ability to supervise multiple part-time staff.
5. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Industry accepted fitness certifications and or 2 years experience in fitness related field.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract five digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
1. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment
2. Fitness certifications (Personal Training / Aerobics / ACE etc)
3. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
