JOB DESCRIPTION: Fire Watch

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Watch out for fire hazards in the workplace while work is performed by other employees.
• Maintain the conditions and requirements stated on the safety permit.
• Keep flammable materials from ignition sources.
• In the event of a fire, extinguish it immediately or turn a fire alarm on, call 911 or the emergency alarm number.
• Stop operations if you find any hazardous condition.
• Any condition in the workplace, whether usual or unexpected, determines your basic duties as a fire or safety watch.
• Make sure you and other employees are aware of the exact location of firefighting equipment in the immediate area.
• As much as possible maintain a constant means of communication. Keep visual and voice contact with other employees.
• Be prepared to operate fire extinguishers, hydrants, fixed monitors, and hose carts anytime.
• Never leave the job site while work is being done. If you must leave, stop the job, and notify workers.
• When all operations are done, do not leave the worksite unless you are sure that there are no hot sparks, embers, and other fire hazards. Return all firefighting equipment to their original location.
• Frequent travel within the region is required.
• Participate in team meetings and safety meetings.
• Must comply with Company Drug and Alcohol Policy.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to work up to 7 days a week: and/or 8–12-hour days.
• Shift flexibility; days or nights.
• Must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol Test/Background screening.
• Ascend heights up to 50 feet or greater using stairs or a ladder.
• Work in a confined space.
• Discern colors and warning signs.
• Lift/move up to 25 lbs. to chest level; life and move up to 10 lbs. above head.
• Able to walk quickly over one mile in full PPE equipment to and from the client job site.
• Able to wear the required PPE for extended hours in various types of environmental conditions.
• Excellent hearing and vision.
• Must be able to follow client written and verbal requirements.
• Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Works in outdoors and industrial settings.
• Regularly works in varying weather conditions: hot, cold, and wet conditions.
• Regularly works in areas with large industrial equipment subject to high noise levels.
• May work in areas with hazardous chemicals.
• Stand for long periods of time.
• Crouch, kneel, or crawl in an internal or external environment.
• Must be able to read and understand instructions, permits and warning signs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Communications:

• Able to read, write, speak & comprehend English fluently

Hearing:

• Hearing adequate to perform job duties

Speaking:

• Able to communicate clearly in person and over phone

Vision:

• Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties as indicated

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 12 hour shift
• Day shift
• Night shift
• Weekend availability
