The Fire Alarm and Security System Technician is responsible for troubleshooting low voltage Fire Alarm and Security Systems and resolving any problems. This position requires a thorough understanding of fire alarm and security products, supporting software, and electrical systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Installation, Service, and Inspections of Fire Alarms and associated systems
- Completion of all necessary paperwork associated with service and inspections
- Communicate with customer before and after any call to explain work performed
- Ensure timely job completion
- Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements and general status of job
- Take turns in On-Call rotation
- May Mentor Fire and / or Security technicians on tools and technology
Qualifications
- Familiarity with NFPA 72, Florida Fire Prevention Code, and local building codes
- Minimum 5 years’ field experience in inspection, repair, and installation of fire alarm and security system systems
- Extensive knowledge of low voltage systems
- Experience working with Fire-Lite and Notifier brands of equipment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Proficient in the use of computers and smart phones, specifically Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Apple iOS, and Google Android
- High Level of Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving Skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills required
- Organized, motivated, and able to work with minimum supervision
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
