FINISHING LINE MANAGER - 3rd SHIFT / SMART CABINETRY

Smart Cabinetry / Cabinetworks Group is looking for a Finishing Line Manager for 3rd shift in our manufacturing plant in New
Paris, Indiana.

Summary/Objective
The Finishing Line Manager is responsible for supervising shop employees in the manufacturing area. This position performs work as assigned by the Plant Manager, plans and assigns work, and implements policies and procedures. To be considered for this position you must have cabinet or furniture finishing experience, have worked on automated finishing equipment such as CEFLA, Giardina or SCM.

In lieu of direct finishing experience, willing to consider an Industrial Engineer / Mechanical engineer with lean and process control background wanting to advance their career into operations leadership.

Essential Functions
1. Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching, training, and development.
2. Setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision.
3. Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties and delegated tasks.
4. Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
5. Study and standardize procedures (SOPS’s) to manage detailed parameters & improve efficiency of workforce.
6. Ensure employee safety in Finishing Department by conducting daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections and monthly safety meetings.
7. Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale.
8. Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides daily reports to purchasing regarding inventory needs. Maintain proper inventory levels.
9. Manage department priorities. & Track absenteeism.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management within that department, including but not limited to each of the following:

1. Conduct employee evaluations and make recommendations regarding promotions and/or raises.
2. Enforce Company rules and procedures. Implement discipline as necessary, including issuing oral warnings, written warnings, and suspensions.
3. Make recommendations to Plant Management regarding hiring & terminating employees.
4. Review and approve vacations or other time off for department employees.

Work Enviornment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. All appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Machinery and Task Demands
Employee must be knowledgeable about and able to train and supervise department employees on the use of the following machines and/or tasks:

• Sanding
• Painting
• Robotic paint, stain, and UV machines such as Giardina, CEFLA, or SCM preferred
• Pallet jack
• Acetone
• Management and disposal of hazardous waste material pursuant to regulatory and training guidelines
• Stain
• Glaze
• Sealers
• UV

Preferred Education and Experience

• High School Diploma
• 5 or more years of experience supervising a staff of 20 or more employees in a finishing area OR in lieu of direct finishing experience, willing to consider an Industrial Engineer / Mechanical engineer wanting to advance their career into operations leadership, with lean & process control background.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1,800.00 - $1,925.00 per week
