The Financial Response Accountant supports the Corporate Controller in providing process improvement expertise and driving effective controls management of financial reporting & compliance throughout our group of dealerships.

The ideal candidate will assist the Corporate Controller and Financial Response Team Manager with training business office personnel, employing SOX processes and procedures, and coordinating special projects assigned by the Home Office to assist with everyday business office functionality and management.

Job Description

• Supports the Corporate Controller with training and executing company policies and procedures in dealership business offices.

• Assist the Financial Response Team Manager with projects aimed at improving process and efficiency throughout our group of dealerships.

• Assist with GL maintenance in dealerships with areas of concern.

• Coordinate with various management teams on process development and improvement.

• Collaborate with peers on establishing best practices and improved controls for dealership accounting.

• Assist in the development of new accounting processes and controls.

• Researches, analyzes, and resolves discrepancies in dealership accounting for the purpose of preventing possible future occurrences.

• Assist with the setup of pending dealership rollouts and acquisitions.

• Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

  
  Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Dealership Controller or Assistant Controller required.

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related discipline preferred.

• Previous experience in a publicly traded dealership group preferred.

• Working knowledge of CDK Dealer Management System.

• Strong analytical, process evaluation and root cause analysis capabilities; challenges the status quo.

• Data analysis background and experience preferred.

• Working knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and its application.

• Working knowledge of GAAP and application.

• A self-starter that demonstrates ability to independently plan, coordinate, and execute work.

• Must be a team player willing to interface and partner with all members.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

• The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

• Must be able to travel (up to 50%) as needed.

• Must reside in any state where Sonic Automotive has operations: AL, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IN, MD, MO, MT, NM, NC, NV, NY, OH, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA.
