This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote.

DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health Sciences encompasses UC San Diego Health, the region's only academic health system, UC San Diego School of Medicine, one of the nation's top research-intensive medical schools, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southern California's first public school of pharmacy, and Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science. UC San Diego Health Sciences' mission is to deliver outstanding patient care through commitment to the community, groundbreaking research and inspired teaching.

The division of Medical Education within the UC San Diego School of Medicine consists of the following units: Undergraduate Medical Education, Admissions & Student Affairs, Diversity and Community Partnerships, Graduate Medical Education, Continuing Medical Education & Faculty Development, Simulation Education, Physician Assistant Education, Anatomical Services, Business Affairs and Educational Technology. The division supports the education, training and co-curricular activities of approximately 560 medical students, 90 physician assistant students, 1000 residents and fellows as well as the faculty, physician and healthcare providers at UCSD’s School of Medicine, its' Medical Centers, and affiliates.

The position provides financial support, analysis and management to the Division of Medical Education and Physician Assistant Education Program. Uses professional concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contacts are primarily internal to the department, but may also be external.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.

  • Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Proven ability to analyze and prepare budgets, to identify spending patterns and project future expenditures. Proven ability to analyze financial issues, recognize potential impact, identify solutions and make recommendations.

  • Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments. Experience in analyzing large quantities of financial data, summarizing and extracting data, compiling relevant information in a variety of appropriate formats.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.

  • Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.

  • Effective interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.

  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

  • Strong ability to maintain tact, poise, diplomacy, confidentiality and hospitality with a diverse population of staff, faculty, industry, and the community in a high pressure and demanding environment.

  • Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures relating to contract and grants; and accounting. Ability to independently interpret, analyze, and implement appropriate policies in a given situation.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $48,900 - $102,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $23.42 - $48.99

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
