Novus Group seeks a Field Technician with well-established, stable, ethical and respected company in Northeastern West Virginia. The company has been in business for almost 30 years and is strongly rooted in principles of treating employees well and promoting from within.
The Field Technician will travel to locations (up to 50% travel) across the United States to service customers; install, perform preventive maintenance, inspect, troubleshoot, set-up and monitor, equipment for the natural gas pipeline. When not traveling, work onsite at the northeastern West Virginia corporate location.
- The position pays up to $32.00 per hour, and includes 50% travel and up to 500 hours overtime annually – projected annual salary $93,000
- Progressive pay scale – the more you learn and master the more money you make
- 80 hours Paid Time Off each year
- Company shutdown with paid time off (in addition to 80 hours of PTO) during Christmas/New Year’s holidays – typically 1.5 – 2 weeks additional Paid Time Off
- Seven (7) additional Paid Holidays each year

JOB DUTIES:
- Exhibit knowledge and compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA safety regulations, and Company Safety Rules and Regulations
- Complete timely and accurate documentation: work orders, DOT logs, expense reports, etc.
- Exercise sound judgment in proper problem/issue resolution and seek direction from team and/or supervisor as necessary
- Adhere to standards of quality and customer service
- Contribute to team-based work environment by communicating well with others
- Quickly assess problems and process workable solutions
- Effectively manage ever-changing schedules, prioritize workflow and adapt, as necessary
- Practice worksite hygiene: keep worksite organized and clean
- Use mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills to service customer
- Work with fluid pressure and flow
- Drive/fly to worksites as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive large vehicles, trailers, box trucks; our insurance carrier requires all drivers be a minimum of 23 years of age
- CDL with 2 years’ experience preferred but not required. Employee will be expected to acquire CDL within first three months of employment (company paid)
- High School or GED equivalent
- Proficient working with technology – iPad, iPhone, PC, etc.
- Technical or Mechanical certifications or degrees are a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude: willingness to learn how things work; be able to troubleshoot & repair
- Positive attitude: Work scope and schedules can and will change frequently. Employee needs to react in a positive manner, accept the changes, accomplish the tasks assigned, and be an effective working partner with co-workers.
- Excellent documentation skills needed to complete paperwork, driver logs, and associated forms
- Strong desire to excel in position, progression to Senior Technician
- Flexible for travel throughout the USA – Travel over 50% and sometimes with short notice
- Advanced troubleshooting skills to quickly assess problems with workable solutions
- Ability to follow complex written drawings, blueprints, technical procedures
- Self-directed, motivated independent thinker who can meet deadlines
- Excellent communicator when speaking with coworkers, clients and exhibits advanced interactive capabilities
- Understanding and following process flow diagrams (lines, tanks, pumps, valves, pressure gauges, level gauges
- Pressure concepts
- Liquid pumping principles
- Basic electrical understanding
- Hydraulic and pneumatic actuation
- Understanding, calibrating and operating electronic sensors
- Following written technical procedures
- Use of hand tools (pipe wrench, crescent wrench, etc)
- Pipefitting activities
- Respecting all DOT regulations while driving with a CDL (CDL can be obtained during training)

Although a candidate may not have direct knowledge or actual work experience with the following items, candidate would need to demonstrate an aptitude for learning and mastering them:
- Understanding pressure and flow dynamics relating to natural gas pipeline
- Understanding natural gas measurement (pressure, flow, concentration, dosage) and associated measuring equipment (pressure gauges, flowmeters) and units (cubic feet per minute (cfm), pounds per square inch (psi), pounds per million standard cubic feet (lbs/MMSCF)
- Operating and maintaining odorization equipment
- Concept of material compatibility
- Hazard area classification
- Compression fitting installation
- Working safely with flammable liquids and gases
- Filling out non-conformances, near misses, accident reports
- Performing job hazard analysis
