Field Service Tech:
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Under limited supervision, installs, repairs, overhauls and maintains a variety of electrically driven pumps, electrical wiring systems, electric motors, control valves, PRV’s and appurtenant equipment related to water treatment/distribution and wastewater treatment/collections.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Repairs, and maintains pumps, electric motors and other mechanical equipment.
Performs reverse alignments and laser alignments of rotating equipment.
Tests, troubleshoots and repairs defects in electrical circuits up to 600 volts AC.
Performs Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on electrical and mechanical equipment.
Operates a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric & air tools.
Operates 6,000lbs crane truck for maintenance or repair of equipment as necessary.
Performs other such duties as may be assigned.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have at least two years of experience in water utility maintenance and service.
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Valid Texas Driver's license.
Familiar with standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment related to water utility mechanics.
Basic electrical theory and electrical safety procedures.
Construction and operation of water treatment and distribution and wastewater treatment and collections systems.
Routine pump, motor and water utility mechanical maintenance.
Basic to advanced electrical troubleshooting.
Ability to:
Apply WCID 17’s safety standards to prevent accidents.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions and prepare written reports of activities performed.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
Deal effectively with the public in stressful situations.
Tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions.
Read and understand electrical and mechanical equipment O&M manuals, including schematics, drawings, blueprints, and technical data instructions.
Locate and adjust/repair defects in electrical & mechanical systems and equipment.
Use and care for tools and equipment.
Work overtime as required.
Work on-call as required.
Work in confined spaces such as manholes, wet wells, and valve boxes.
Wear and use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) when necessary.
Climb vertically 260+ feet.
