Job Overview

The Field Technician role is a service role that is expected to evaluate, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical/electrical issues for material handling equipment across the customer base. The role is a customer facing position requiring dispatch to conduct training, preventative maintenance and repair of Bastian products. The job requires greater than 50% travel to customer sites. The position requires the ability to adhere to LOTO standards and conduct work in safe manner in challenging work environments. The position requires writing site reports and being able to proficiently use MS Office products to develop Methods of Procedure, checklists and site reports. The job requires the ability to listen to customer needs and make sure those needs are communicated to the appropriate Bastian Solutions business unit to resolve.

Job Functions

• Receive and process customer service requests into support process tools.
• Determine root cause of issues and plan resolution to fix them either remotely or on-site.
• Interface daily with internal and external customers on troubles, spare part quotes, orders and fulfillment.
• Writing of site reports, quality issues, support tickets/email with internal and external customers.
• Ability to develop a project schedule to plan and execute small projects/dispatches.
• Assist in training internal and external training events by event setup and training material development.
• Assist the customer service team on developing new processes, tools, templates and Customer Support initiatives.
• Capture and communicate photo/videos of issues to enable others to troubleshoot and work through issues.
• Assist other customer service team members in any area that support is needed, e.g. QA, shipping, etc.

Travel Requirements

• 50% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interface with a high number of internal and external customers and prioritize tasks for customers
• Ability to plan and execute projects and tasks independently
• Ability to change scope and schedule quickly to meet customer needs
• Electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to write site reports which contain technical detail
• Understanding of mechanical equipment and tools (voltmeter, hand tools and power tools)
• Troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical repairs
• Safety skills and ability to use LOTO procedures and a safety mindset
• Ability to use calipers and software applications to troubleshoot
